SnapBrief support
Help for turning screenshots into clear, shareable notes—fast and without the jargon.
Getting started
SnapBrief helps you turn screenshots into notes people can actually use. Quick start:
Optional polish
If you use the in-app polish feature, add a key in Settings. It’s kept in your Mac’s Keychain and only used when you run that feature. You can get a key from OpenAI’s site if you need one.
Your first shareable note
Everyone gets three free tries:
- Open SnapBrief and add shots (drag, drop, or paste)
- Add a short note next to what matters—feedback, questions, or “change this”
- Create your shareable note when you’re ready
- Copy to Slack, email, or save as Markdown
How to add screenshots
SnapBrief supports multiple ways to add visual content:
Drag and drop
Drag image files directly from Finder into SnapBrief. Supports PNG, JPG, and other common formats.
Paste from clipboard
Take a screenshot (⌘⇧4) or copy an image, then paste it directly into SnapBrief with ⌘V.
File browser
Use the "Add Screenshots" button to browse and select multiple images at once.
How to create a clear note
Good notes come from good context:
Add context
Tap a screenshot and write what changed, what’s wrong, or what you want next. Plain language beats perfect wording.
Create your note
When you’re ready, create the shareable note. Optional polish is there if you turned it on in Settings.
Tweak before you send
Edit the text so it sounds like you—then share.
Share anywhere
Copy into Slack, email, or a ticket. Save as Markdown when you need a file.
How subscriptions work
SnapBrief uses a simple subscription model managed through the Mac App Store:
Free tries
Three free runs—no card required.
Pro subscription
Upgrade for unlimited notes from your screenshots. Monthly ($9.99) or yearly ($79.99).
Managing your subscription
Subscriptions are handled entirely through the Mac App Store. Change or cancel anytime in System Settings > Apple ID > Media & Purchases.
Restore purchases
If you've purchased SnapBrief Pro but it's not showing up:
- Open SnapBrief Settings
- Click "Restore Purchases" in the Subscription section
- Your Pro status should be restored automatically
- If problems persist, try restarting the app
Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID that made the purchase.
Privacy and security
SnapBrief is designed with privacy in mind:
Local storage
Your screenshots and notes stay on your Mac until you export or use optional polish.
Key storage
If you add a key for optional polish, it lives in your Mac’s Keychain—same vault as passwords.
No data collection
We don’t run analytics on your content or host your notes on our servers.
When data leaves your Mac
Only when you use optional polish—and then through your own account settings, not ours.
Troubleshooting
Note creation fails
If something won’t run:
- Check internet connection
- If you use polish: confirm your key and account credits
- Try fewer or smaller screenshots
- Quit and reopen SnapBrief
App won't launch
If SnapBrief won't start:
- Make sure you're running macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
- Try restarting your Mac
- Reinstall from the Mac App Store if necessary
Subscription issues
For subscription problems:
- Try "Restore Purchases" in Settings
- Check your Apple ID subscription status in System Settings
- Contact Apple Support for billing issues
